Aplusix
APLUSIX is a computer system helping students to learn algebra (formal exercises and word problems).Its basic principle consists of letting students do their own calculations in a microworld environment, thanks to an advanced editor of algebraic expressions, and of providing non intrusive feedback on the correctness of the calculations. The system also provides feedback on the correct end of the exercises.
Beside this training mode, APLUSIX contains a test mode, without feedback, with a score at the end and a self-correction mode allowing the students to correct the work they have done during tests. The system contains also commands to have some calculations done by the computer, like in computer algebra systems, and parameters that allow the teacher to choose the commands available to the students. Last, APLUSIX contains tool allowing the teacher to observe the work of the students: a replay system and a statistics module.
